We Believe Mental Health Matters!
Lisa Smith, LPC-Intern
I received a Masters in clinical mental health counseling from Regent University in 2019. I have also obtained my license as a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern. I approach counseling from a biological basis. The mind and the body have a connection, and I believe that understanding what is going on in the body informs what is going on in the mind. I possess training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) a treatment designed to help people process distressing events in their lives. My clinical interests include treating trauma, dissociation/dissociative disorders, anxiety and depression. I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Trust Based Relational Intervention into my therapeutic approach. I desire to work with adolescents, individuals, groups, and families. Individuals who have intellectual or physical challenges hold a special place in my heart. I approach every individual that comes into my office as unique and special. Together we will work through the challenges that brought you to therapy. With commitment and time therapy can help you overcome even the most overwhelming challenges.
In my time away from the office I enjoy being active in sports, spending time with my family and my dog. I also enjoy being active in my church; currently I teach the teenagers in Sunday school an age group I enjoy working with.
