In Pre-Marital counseling we use the SYMBIS (Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts) curriculum developed by Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott. Every aspect of this assessment is grounded in multiple studies to ensure that the tool is both reliable and valid. Our therapists meet regularly with you and your fiancé’ for several weeks. We seek to help the couple optimize their combined strengths by assessing everything from psychological well-being to revealing how your combined personalities can be leveraged for optimal success. The SYMBIS assessment is robust, personalized and powerful. A minimum of 8 sessions is suggested as we look at ways to make your marriage successful.
You will learn about:
- Family of origin issues
- Blended families
- Divorce recovery
- Communication skill development
- Conflict resolution skills
Couple distress is the single most common reason for seeking therapy. It undermines family functioning and is strongly associated with depression, anxiety disorders, and alcoholism.
Our therapists use the Sound Relationship House Model developed by Drs. John and Julie Gottman to teach couples the principles that guide them on a path toward a harmonious and long-lasting relationship. By using the Gottman Method our therapists assist couples in developing strategies to collaborate more effectively to resolve any problem.
